Cat Momma

How do I know I've become the crazy cat lady I never thought I would become?
I spend my evenings baking up cat treats instead of cookies and cupcakes for me!
Mmm.. tuna!
That's okay though! She and I have become the best of buddies, she hardly leaves my side! This is where she sits and begs for me to get the laser out.
She also knows when to wake me up for food, when she gets her nightly treats, and that even if I hide my hands, I just might still be willing to pet her!

Hallie has quickly won her way to my heart! :)

Something Old, Something New

In a few short days not only will I be getting married, I will be getting a new name! It was a more difficult decision than I realized. I hated even thinking about giving up my name and everything attached with it. I also hated the thought of not being identified with Jacob. Then I realized I can have the best of both worlds! I will predominately go by my new name, but no one said I had to ditch my unique last name!
So to declare my move to the top of the alphabet, I painted a new garden flag for our pot outside. Some burlap, a few polka dots, and a big 'C' later, I had a new cheery flag!

Tales from the Teacher

Lately, I've gotten quite a bit of interest in my age...

"So, are you in middle school or high school?" umm. None of the above.

"What grade are you in?" Seriously!?

"Are you 16?" WOW. No.

My favorite of the past few weeks:

A kid pipped out of nowhere, "You forgot the 'r' in your name."

I looked up at the board, confused. Surely I can spell my name, and there is no 'r' in it. I realized he meant Ms. should be Mrs. I informed him that my name doesn't have an 'r.'

"But she says you are because the riiiiinggg."

When did fourth graders get so observant?!

"Oh. That means I'm getting married, just not married yet."

"Oh oh oh oh! When are you getting married?!"

When these kids went to their next class, that was the first thing they told their teacher. hahah

As the same kiddo was leaving he told me "have a great marriage forever and ever and ever!"

Our Apartment

Almost two weeks ago, Jacob and I finally moved into our new place!
My vision for the England inspired living room most certainly came through! Jacob's mom made us that killer coffee table mom and found that adorable pillow, my mom found that London trunk in the corner (which is holding my most prized holiday decor), and Jacob and I found that poster and had it framed. That canvas of the tv is London! :) Jacob's navy chair worked perfectly and the picture of the baboon I said could stay. Compromise people! Do you like our record console below the poster? Yep! 1968 Magnavox record console that still works! Isn't is gorgeous! It houses our growing album collection.
The wall that divides the kitchen and living room has all my crosses. The drop leaf table is a beautiful antique given to us by Jacob's grandmother. It has quickly become my favorite piece of furniture. It has storage on both sides and can flip up and become a working desk or sewing table in no time! The kitchen has our kitchen table. It too is a drop leaf given to us by Jacob's grandmother! It's perfect against the wall to save space. It makes a perfect display for all my cupcake goodies. I tried to not get too carried away, but I ended up with quite a few cupcake things! I scored a cookbook holder for a steal and love having my beautiful cupcake cookbook on display!
Don't you love that cupcake sign? That's Jacob's mom's handiwork right there. Made from pallet boards and hand-painted by her!  My favorite is the one with the cherry on top! A few more cupcake things around the kitchen, like those horribly crooked dishtowels, the sign above the sink, and a jar full or cupcake holders by the knife block. That Kitchen Aid stand mixer has started cranking out backed goods too! The rainbow cart is home to the Keurig, K-cups, sprinkles, cookie cutters, and more!
Random pictures of adorable Hallie, the most spoiled cat in the world! That's her spot on the bed. She likes looking out the window there.
Here's our porch. Around campus I was always known for my flower pots and wreaths! I had my dad help me plant these flowers, my mom got me the flag pole, and Jacob's friend got us that rug! Perfect for us nerds, right!? That "Please Wipe Your Paws" sign was a must with a new kitty living with us!

Jacob had the inspiration for the bedroom. He wanted it natural and peaceful! The blues, browns and greens and dark curtains helped achieve that. Our desk is in the bed room, but it fits perfectly! I try to wrap up "business" well before be so it doesn't interfere.

Our closet is huge! Not only does it fit our wardrobes, but my boxes and boxes of holiday decor, surplus supplies and more!

We carried the browns, blues and greens into the bathroom. We found this shower curtain and I think it totally makes the room. I love it! I could resist the his & hers towels and hooks. We'll be Mr. & Mrs. so soon I can taste it!
Last, but surely not least, this little guy sits below the mirror in our hallway. He adds much needed color. The wheat grass just keeps growing and growing. The gnome and owl just make the pot fun. I smile each time I pass! :)

Though our apartment is small, it's cozy, it's beautiful, it's us! :) It's so weird having both of our things here, but somehow it just seems right!
